My two cents is that if you're torn between the tote & the bookbag, get the bookbag - it may look silly, but you can actually wear the bookbag & pump at the same time, which is wonderful if you're at home by yourself - I can use this & pump while at the same time take care of errands around the house without having to be "tied down" to a chair. To wear it, you obviously need to use the DC battery pack vs. the AC adapter - I saw another post where the user complained that the pump lost its strength after one session with the DC pack; however, I am currently on my 6th pumping session with the DC pack and haven't had any loss of suction yet. The trick is just to use good batteries - the only downside is that the pack requires 8 AA batteries. Also, to fully take advantage of the moving-around-the-house backpack feature, you'll need a pumping bra to allow you to be hands-free, I use the Simple Wishes Hands Free Pumping Bustier for Medela Breast Pump L/XL/XXL , which works great for that purpose. (I only wear it to pump, not for "normal" bra purposes -- it fits like a halter-top and is very adjustable and also comes with straps that you can attach so that it fits like a normal bra.)
The last bit of feedback is on the storage system - while it did come with one nipple so that the storage bottles can be used to feed the baby as well, I recommend to simply just use them as storage and use Dr. Browns bottles for feeding baby (the Dr. Brown's 4-oz bottles are also compatible with the Madela pump). I've found that the Dr. Brown's do a great job cutting down on gas. (note, the compatibility is one-way, the Dr. Browns inserts do not fit inside the Madela storage bottles).
When I first tried to use it straight from the box, it did not work. Fortunately, I was just trying the pump out and did not need to start pumping for another week. My husband figured out it was the AC adapter that failed to operate by trying it with the battery pack. My husband contacted Medela customer service for me, and I got a new AC adapter about a week later. He said the customer service was definitely setup for the breastfeeding mother, and it was a two-step process to get the call completed - my husband submitted an online ticket, then we had to call them if I remember correctly.
The two-phase expression works very well, and I frequently find that I only need the lowest pump setting to get milk to letdown. Sometimes, I do have to increase the suction after I have pumped for a few minutes. I have pumped with both the battery pack and the AC adapter, and I have not experienced a significant difference between the two forms of power.
When I started, I just did one breast at a time. This is not efficient at all; I really wish I had pumped both breasts simultaneously from the start. I got one of the Simple Wishes Hands Free Breastpump Bras, and it is a lifesaver. I eat breakfast while I pump in the morning, and because I have my own office, I shut my door at work and continue to work while I pump.
I had some trouble finding the right size of breastshields. Pumping was a little uncomfortable, so I did some research and found the breastshields could cause this. So I tried small shields, then I tried large shields and found they worked the best - the pump comes with medium shields. I found the Medela diagram of what the breast should look like in the breastshield to be useless. Most of what I found online said that many women prefer the large size shields though.
I also think having spare parts on hand and ready to go is important. I had trouble getting one of the valves off and had to lever it off. This caused a little damage to the surface so the membrane could not seal properly, so I needed another valve to correct the problem. In addition, the valves do not need to be on the breastshield connectors extremely tightly - I stopped pressing them on so hard and they are much easier to get off now.
The backpack is not especially roomy, but I only keep the tubing, AC adapter, Playtex Drop-ins rings, ring towers (described in next paragraph), and the Simple Wishes bra in the backpack. I wash my parts after every pumping, so I transport the parts in a large plastic bowl, and I air-dry them on a clean burp cloth.
Finally, I read Morgan's Mom's review before I purchased the pump and used her suggestion of collecting into Playtex Drop-Ins. This works extremely well, and I do just as she says with freezing them upright, removing the rings, and putting the liners in a Ziploc bag. I put 14 four-ounce liners into a one-gallon Ziploc bag then put the bag in the deep freeze until I take it to the daycare provider. What I had trouble with was figuring out how to get them to freeze upright. I ended up making two towers of 5 liner rings, then I place the liner ring and drop-in liner I am going to pump into in these towers until I am ready to start pumping and after I am done pumping. If you only need to freeze two liners at a time, this works well for freezing too. If you need to freeze several at a time in an upright position, I discovered the cardboard carton for a six-pack of bottled beer works really well (no, I was not the person who drank the beer from the six pack ;) ), and you can set 12 four ounce liners into the cardboard carton.
* The double pump: you can pump both sides at once. That saves time (I pump between 5 and 10 minutes) and you get more milk. It has the let-down feature that kicks in after 2 minutes, I usually push the let-down button before the two minutes. It's tricky to work the pump while pumping cause you need both hands to hold, so I tried a rubber-band trick I learned on workandpump.com for handsfree pumping.
* Battery operated: works great! I used it on two very long flights (3 pumping sessions each). The 8 AA batteries lasted perfectly for both flights. I covered myself up and used it in my seat. No one noticed or heard anything.
* Sound: It's very quiet
* The bag is great, cute, I take it to work with me. Very convenient, there is room for 4 bottles in the cooler with the ice pack. There is room for all the pump equipment and my wallet, keys, work badge and a few more small items.
* The bottles: The bag comes with 4 bottles, 3 or 4 caps (can't remember), and one nipple top. Which was great, i tried the bottle for my baby and she took to it very well. I since bought another set of 3 more bottles and nipples, she uses only those.
* Cleaning: Like all pumps you need to clean all the parts after every use. At home it's no big deal. At work I use the Medela wipes, which are okay for work, but I clean everything again when I get home. There are also microwave steam bags to sanitize them quickly, I haven't tried them yet.
That's all I can think of. Good luck!
Update: I have been using it exclusively for 5 months now, and it's still working great, no problems with the motor tiring out as I've read in other reviews.

Sinceramente es bueno pero muy caro tal vez otras opciones de extracción eléctrica podrían ser mejor en cuanto a precio.
Battery pack is convenient, however it uses a lot of batteries and if you don't remember to unplug, it will suck the batteries pretty quickly.
Love my pump!
